PREP
what t expect
Lifeguards in training can expect a blended learning class in which about 7 hours of online work will need to be completed as a prerequisite to the course.
Upon arriving to class, students must be able to complete three physical tests. These include swimming a full 300 yards without stopping, treading water for 2 min without hands, and retrieving a 10 lbs weight from a depth of 7-10 feet.
WHat Y u need
A good ATTITUDE goes a long way. Being a professional lifeguard means being a combination of fit, focused, and friendly. It takes the right attitude to try again if you fail and make it through the mental and physical challenges. It can also help in an interview and get you the job!
PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE is very important before and after your training course. If you are not in sports like swimming, diving, or water polo, some skills may be difficult for people that don't get in the water often. While working at a pool, it is critical to test your rescue skills in and out of the water to stay sharp and confident.
Certificati ns
The course includes Lifeguarding, First Aid, and CPR/AED training. The certification is valid for two years and must be renewed to maintain its validity. Lifeguards will receive their certifications by email.
Additional certifications like Bloodborne Pathogens, Anaphylaxis and Epinephrine Auto-Injector, and Asthma Inhaler trainings are available if your job requires. Please send us an email regarding your needs and we will do our best to accommodate.
